OnniBus will launch services between Helsinki and Hanko starting 1 June 2026, operating throughout the summer season. The route will run with two daily departures in each direction, seven days a week from Monday to Sunday. The timetable is designed to serve both day-trippers and overnight visitors. All services will be operated with single-decker buses that allow passengers to travel with bicycles and pets. – Hanko has been one of the most requested destinations in our customer surveys. We are excited to add Hanko to our summer network, says OnniBus CEO Joona Hurmerinta. – The timetable allows travellers to spend a full day in Hanko or Tammisaari. It also works well for overnight visitors – the return departure from Hanko leaves around midday, giving time for breakfast, a relaxed morning and hotel check-out before heading back to Helsinki, says OnniBus Head of Customer Experience Henna Ojala-Merikoski. – It is great news that OnniBus is launching a route to Hanko at the beginning of the summer season, offering a new sustainable way to reach the city. Demand for a direct bus connection has been strong for a long time. Hanko continues to grow in popularity as a day-trip destination. Visitors can explore coastal landscapes by bike, for example along the scenic route towards Gunnarsstrand and Tulliniemi, ride a 19 km marked cycling route, or stroll along beautiful seaside streets. The water tower observation deck offers impressive views in all directions. When hunger or thirst strikes, visitors can enjoy the restaurants and cafés at the Eastern Harbour, and then continue exploring the charming boutiques in the town centre, says Visit Hanko Tourism Manager Maria Nordström. The route connects several attractive summer destinations The OnniBus Helsinki–Hanko route also includes other interesting summer destinations. The route operates as follows: Helsinki Kamppi – Espoo – Kirkkonummi – Inkoo – Karjaa – Tammisaari – Hanko. Detailed stop information is available in OnniBus route search. Passengers can board and alight at all stops along the route. – The timetable also makes it easy to take day trips, for example from Helsinki to Karjaa, which is known for its popular vintage store and cafés. Travellers can also plan a summer trip from Helsinki to Tammisaari, says Ojala-Merikoski. Travel by bus – or combine your journey with cycling Cycling continues to grow in popularity, and more travellers want to complete part of their journey by bike. – Travelling with bicycles and pets is becoming increasingly popular. We have taken these trends into account in route planning.
